One of the founders of Epigeneron, Inc., Toshitsugu Fujita, Ph.D. received Bioindustry Research Award 2021.

Epigeneron, Inc. announced today that one of its founders, Toshitsugu Fujita, Ph.D., Associate Professor/Research Professor of Hirosaki University Graduate School of Medicine and School of Medicine, has received Bioindustry Research Award 2021 presented by Japan Bioindustry Association. It is awarded to promising young researchers who are involved in the biological science and biotechnology research. The award ceremony and commemorative lecture will be held on October 13, 2021 at the international biotechnology conference “BioJapan2021” in Yokohama, Japan.
The award-winning work is “Development of locus-specific chromatin immunoprecipitation technologies and their applications”.
The award panel commented as follows:
The award winner has successfully developed the chromatin immunoprecipitation technique which no one else has ever done. The technique enables comprehensive analysis of every types of molecules that bind to the target genomic regions. The award winner is actively contributing to the industry by establishing a startup to provide research kits/reagents and research services. It is expected that he continues to play an active role as a leading scientist in the field by contributing to the development of novel drugs that target genomic region binding molecules and infectious disease control.
